The Clegg Venus is an excellent 6 meter SSB transceiver and will also
operate on AM. It runs a 12 volt 6146 (6883, A, B, 8032, 8032A, 8552). It
runs about 85 watts PEP. Wait, do I hear another neutralization
discussion coming up?(couldn't resist)
And in between boatanchor and current stuff, you have rigs like the
Kenwood TS-600, which is an all mode 6 meter transceiver, that has an
excellent receiver and a 12 watt transmitter. Transmitter output is
controlled by a front panel control and is great when driving a
boatanchor 6 meter linear like the Gonset or Johnson 6N2 Thunderbolt. The
real nice thing about this transceiver is that it has parts that you can
identify. Resistors look like resistors, capacitors look like capacitors,
etc. and not just blobs of something sitting on a PC board.
