Just an FYI in case you are in need of a "new" (not a rewind) low voltage
power tranny for your Johnson Valiant transmitter.
I just received a custom-made transformer to replace the Low Voltage Power
Tranny (T2) in my Valiant I.
Phil Dannenderg (htovvp at novagate.net) at Heyboer Transformers
http://www.heyboertransformers.com/index.shtml made it up for me. It's a new
tranny, not a rewind.
I bench-checked it for resistance and no-load voltage readings before
installation and they read exactly what is referenced in the Valiant I
factory manual.
Installation only required that I re-drill two of the mounting holes by less
than 1/4". There was plenty of room to do this and two more small holes in
the chassis doesn't bother me especially since they were covered over by the
tranny case mounting feet.
After installation, I loaded up the transmitter and checked all the
voltages. Everything was exactly where it was supposed to be. Very nice
workmanship and long leads made installation easy.
He said it would take about 2 weeks to make and sure enough, it was
delivered right on-time. I'm totally satisfied. For $112.00 plus $10.00
shipping to my qth, I don't think you can do better than that for a new
xfmr.
