Jim...

Yes, it's an off center 250' (nominal) antenna. There is some sort of balun
off-center, to which 22' of feedline (RG8X?) hangs. At the end of this
feedline is a choke and from there you can feed it with any length of 50 ohm
coax.

Radio Works makes this antenna, and I guess they coined the name (altho they
are in Virginia, so go figure). http://www.radioworks.com/

I "scanned" it with an antenna analyzer and the SWR is 3:1 or less on all
the ham bands (never looked at the WARC bands).

As I mentioned, it's the one and only commercial wire antenna I've ever
bought, and it works well. Their claims are that the 22' vertical is
intended to radiate.

If this one dies from the winter ice & wind I will probably replace it with
the wire you mention, and give a try to open wire feed.

Dan:

Since you have a Carolina Windom, help us get past the silly name. What is
it? Off center fed half wave for 160? Fed with a single wire as the
original windoms were, balanced line or coax?

BTW, a 260 ft piece of wire up 60 ft ought to work well on all bands!
