The Goot TP-100 and Hakko 808 are both great desoldering guns, I have them 
both. I also have a Weller SCD-100 which I have been playing with lately on an 
HT-32A project and am not happy with that one so far. It clogs easily, non 
adjustable heat- not enough heat (watts) and small disposable chambers which 
cannot be reused so you must have a supply of replacements on hand. I suspect the 
Weller is better suited for PC board work or any work involving small solder 
deposits and low heat requirements. The Goot or Hakko are both fabulous 
desoldering guns for BA work and having them here makes me look forward to 
disassembling circuits now...a real breeze. They make it a snap to take stuff apart and 
put it back together and not burn everything up in the process. I have always 
admired the lead dress and solder joint quality of past elmers but until I got 
the desoldering guns I was always frustrated in my attempts to mirror their 
skills. It's nice to be able to put things back together now and have it look 
good afterwards. Collins printed some manuals on how to install components, 
dress leads on point to point wiring and solder correctly and these are great for 
anyone wanting to achieve professional results.
