[Boatanchors] (no subject) desoldering

Hi Robert,
The sucked up solder path even in the pistol grip unit is straight back
into the "chamber," so pencil or pistol is no different there. The pencil
may be slimmer and better to get into deep places, but I've not had a
problem with my 470B pistol type.
    I'm using the smallest dia. tip, 0.8mm I think, and I'll buy a 1.0mm
tip next time. I suspect that's my main problem, but I do notice more
clogging in the tip when sucking up MFP covered joints (I do usually try
to clean the MFP off first). I have had a cupla incidents of plugging in
the heating element. I have a thin piece of SS wire to rod both out. I
suspect that keeping the trigger pulled to long after the solder is sucked
up cools the tip by the cool air "zipping" thru, and promotes plugging.
There's a lot of air, you can hear the solder get sucked up.
All in all, it's a great aid in the kinda work we do, I'm very happy I
finally spent the $.
