[Boatanchors] Need help identifying an old transmitter

Here is an old transmitter.  It stands 49" high, 29" wide
and 18" deep.  It is black in color, and appears to
maybe be late 1930's military?

It looks like it has been modified, but I can't
tell how much.  The most prominent tube is an 829B
