Where there is MFP, it does not hurt to scrape it a bit with the tip of a knife.
The Pace tips, being heated, will melt or destroy the varnish, permitting access
to the joint. OTOH, the MFP residues gunk up the sucker guts, so be sure to use
a couple of the Millipore type filters in the suction line.
