[Boatanchors] Boatanchors list

Hi Bob(s),

I think we're in violent agreement! I too, think a "pay as you go"
deal is fair, and I'd be happy to do so when/if Al decides that
demand for his machines outpaces the hobby money he can put
into them. It would be relatively painless to create a subscription
fee, paid via online (or otherwise) methods.

I do think that the number of folks on the list would shrink, as you
rightly point out Robert D,the S/N level would likely improve.

Another issue with "free" lists, is that there's no penalty for creating
one... leading to the Balkanization of lists. There's probably 2-3
Heath lists, 2-3 Boatanchors lists, multiple QRP lists, etc etc.
(someday, I'm going to start a Micamold list just to carry this
concept to the logical extreme :-) ). The amount of cross posting
and overlap must be tremendous.

I think paying as you go is a fine thing. Servers and bandwidth cost
real money, and those who use them should pay equitably for the
privledge... I hope Al gets this together and implements it, and I'll
gladly pitch in*.

* - then can we dispense with the "donate now or I'll shoot this
puppy" ads? :-)
