[Boatanchors] DRAKE 2B REPAIR QUESTIONS

Hi:

I have a couple of Drake 2B receivers with similar problems.

The crystal controlled converter stage does not kick into oscillation in the 20 15 m bands.
I have a good crystal (from a third 2B) and have gone thru the tuning procedure but no luck.
I have also tried tweaking the 10k resistor in the 6U8 oscillator circuit with only minor effect on kick starting the circuit.
Any Ideas? Any common failure modes to watch out for?
