Please join with us on Saturday August 21st for the Hallicrafters Collectors
International 40 meter Net. If you value these weekly Nets, then show up and
make your interest known. I know that propagation has made things difficult, but
we need to know if our time is being well spent or not. If you can not be
physically present, or propagation is better to the outer planets than in a
state adjacent to Michigan, then send me an e-mail.
There have only been a handful of people who have kept all of HCI going from its
inception over five years ago. All costs have been paid by me for the web site
and other related expenses. Unfortunately we recently lost the help of one of
our key people and all of us were already shouldering more than we should have
been. But sometimes you just do what you have to do. Now with the workload
increasing on those that remain, we must ask if the cause justifies the effort,
time and expense required to continue on.
Way too often we all take what is there, as simply always going to be there. It
takes commitment on the part of those of us who make HCI happen and we do it
because we care and want to contribute to the Amateur Radio hobby and that of
Boat Anchordom. But we need to know that our time and effort is not being spent
on a cause that nobody really cares about or needs. We do not think this is the
case, far from it. But now that times have changed and the work load is heavier,
we need to hear from you, as it is you that we do this for.
If you would like to help as a relay station for the Saturday or Sunday Nets, or
as a back up NCS, we can use you.
If you would like to volunteer to assist with the HCI web site, our Web Master
KA1DGL, Fred Mooney, is willing to talkwith you about it.
If you have an article or a photo or whatever to contribute to the web site,
please submit it either to:
webmaster at w9wze.org (Fred Mooney, KA1DGL)
Or to me:
netcontrol at w9wze.org
I know that from time to time some of you send me a monetary token of your
appreciation to help pay for web site costs. If that is what you wish to do, my
address is good in QRZ.COM
We believe the benefit is there and we believe that the cause is a good one and
that it is valued and appreciated. However too much work constantly leads to
burn out and the end of life as we knew it. We need to replace this key person
to spread out the work load and make it easier on all of us, maybe even get two
people and add some new features. So if you can help, please do so.
The pre-Net will commence at 12:30 PM EDT, (1630 UTC). The Net proper at 1:00 PM
EDT, (1700 UTC). The frequency (like it ever changes!) will be 7.280 MHZ lsb +/-
for key clicks, mike splatter and the raucous rumblings of my small block Chevy
V/8 powered lawn mower making that old John Deere truly "run like a Deer!". With
my teenage grandson at the wheel, get your kids, pets and valuables off the
streets, out of your yards and out of harms way! If he ever accidentally
discovers that red button marked "emergency stop" is really the Nitrous Oxide
injector, the old yard tractor is apt to do a wheely and climb the R-25g tower
and take out the Mosley TA-33 up yonder! Whereupon his mother is going to take
out her blind father with a four-way lug wrench up along side his head! So that
roar in my background is not the fan on my old Ameritron amplifier burning up
its fan motor bearings, just Brandon throwing up grass rooster tails high enough
that a Giraffe can eat lunch without ever having to bend his neck!
I hope to hear you tomorrow. So be there, let us know you care and let's QSL
Iowa! It is the last state and it is holding out on us.
