As of late I have been receiving a number of inquiries about the Minerva Tropic
Master WW2 morale receiver. I have an exact replacement decal for the lower left
front of the drop down front panel. I also have all five of the electrical )not
cosmetic) restoration articles from the 1995 issues of Popular Electronics.
Additionally I have the original schematic that came with the radio in 1945 and
the original fact sheet.
You can see my MTM fully restored on the HCI web site. The cabinet was done by
my good friend, and absolutely most outstanding panel refinishing and silk
screening wizard anywhere, N0ALO, Lynn Brock. It is fully electrically
refurbished too, by another super tech, KO6BB, Phil Atchley. The one on the HCI
web site is the military version of the W-117, which is only slightly different
electrically from the civilian model.
If any of you need a decal, schematic (the ones by Sams and Rider are 'not'
correct!), fact sheet or the five restoration articles, I have them available
for the cost of printing and postage.
The decal is $2.50 postpaid.
If you need a decal, please be aware that the letters "MCA" appear in red or
gold! I have both available.
Please read the article on the MTM on the HCI web site, I think you will find it
quite interesting. It was the original fact sheet I received with my set
purchased by a military person stationed in Hawaii in May 1945, (the only
original fact sheet known to still exist), which states "Manufactured for the
United States Army and Navy". Which settled the controversy once and for all.
This receiver is an important part of WW2 history and deserves its rightful
place. It brought news from home and friendly voices of hope and encouragement
to countless soul weary and bone tired brave Army and Navy personnel.
If I can provide assistance to any of you, please contact me. Thank you.
