[Boatanchors] RE: Hallicrafters SX71 Drift

Back in the 50's, my first "real" communications receiver was an SX71. I 
remember it's tendancy to drift very well. Whenever the refrigerator came on, for 
instance, it was off to the races.

I was CW only in those days and I always operated with one hand on the key 
and the other hand on the bandspread knob. I used a footswitch to activate a 
relay to go from RX/TX.

I don't think that it ever occured to me that something might be wrong with 
the SX71. It was just the nature of the beast.
