Jim (and all)
Based on my years of experience as NCS for the HCI Nets, and hearing many
different vintage rigs, the most stable and least trouble prone is without
question the SR-150. There are a lot of them on the air, they do have a good RX,
are very stable and are workhorse performers.
The best sounding is the HT-37, even without a Heil mike! (Not picking on my
dear friend Bob Heil, but the TX sounds good even without the great help of a
Heil mike. With one, downright disgusting!)
I have heard Jim's rig and it booms into Michigan with a great signal.

I also have an SR-150 that I use more or less regularly. Just for kicks, I
used it while acting as net control of the Alabama Traffic Net a few
quarters ago. Even the frequency cops with their Pro II's and MP's could
not discern any drift during a 45 minute to 1 hour net. The receiver in the
150 put my TS570 to shame as well.
