I'm still confused about the HTs, 10(11) meter Unidens and Yaecomwood
radios I see listed here for sale. My big toe is more of a boatanchor
than any of those appliances. Personally, I'm glad we don't have to put
up with epay ads like you see on the newsgroups. But on the Milsurplus
list we often have posted links from epay for 'wassat?' questions,
comparisons, etc. which is probably why Tom posted it here. Seems to
work just fine. Sure, there are a very few (2-3) who don't contribute
anything to the list but choose to slip in their own epay ad/listing now
and then. They can be easily banned for taking advantage of the situation.
IMHO, there should be some reachable common ground on matters like this.
There is a difference between something informational and advertising. I
don't care to see the floodgates opened any more than Duane or the next
person, but neither do I think it's right for someone to get tossed
without at least a warning for making an informational post to the list
for comment. It's not like we have the bandwidth control set at 'FULL'
here, afterall.
Grant is right. In the end, the list admin sets the rules and we either
agree to play by them or take our marbles and go elsewhere. That's
always an option I suppose, but folks have said I don't have all my
marbles anyhow, sooo... Do/Will/Can listmembers have any input or
comment on such matters? Happy, contributing members are what make the
lists work, afterall.
Chalk it up to my curious nature.
