Gentlemen of the reflector lists,From Joe in Okla..w5jdy.... I have as
usual a technical question concerning OLD
mica capacitors.....These capacitors came out of a Tri-bander Gonset
Converter 1960s...They are the 6 dot type with an arrow in between the top 3
dots and the bottom 3 dots.....These caps are very leaky and need to be
replaced...I have tested them on a capacity tester and they measure around
200mmf .... My question is how do you read these caps??? The top 3 dots
are, from left to right:: Black-White-Red....The 3 bottom dots are::
Red-Brown-Black......The arrow in the middle is pointing to the right...The
Amateur handbook shows several different types but nothing that will come
out around 200mmf.. The only configuration I can come up with that fits
these caps is 220mmf by reading the last dot on the top line, first dot on
the second line and the middle dot on the second line and using the last dot
on the bottom line as the multiplier???? Is this another way to read caps
thats not in the handbook?? I know this is a lot of reading and I probably
haven't made it very clear..Please Don't waste your time if its confusing...
