Fellow AMers (and others):
I have a "new in the box" Glen E. Martin Engineering 40',
self-supporting, tilt-over, aluminum tower. When I say "new in the
box", I mean I have owned it for several years, but it has never been
taken out of the original shipping cartons, and assembled. It is
their model M-13. It is made of T60-61, and is assembled by putting
it together with stainless steel hardware, much like an the old
fashion erector sets of our childhood days. It is 40 feet, and comes
with a galvanized tilt-over base plate, to which the tower mounts.
Since it is all aluminum (light weight), it is possible to raise and
lower the tower with the help of a few hearty friends, or you can set
a "dead-man pole" adjacent (approximately 2 feet behind), and use it
to do the heavy work. With the "dead-man, I raise and lower my other
Martin, a 50' M-18 (bigger and heavier), without any assistance
I called Martin Engineering, and asked what this tower package would
sell for, if ordered from them. I was given a figure of $1200.00,
plus shipping & handling. Since this tower is still in its original
cartons, there would be no charge for packing - only the freight
charges to its destination. And note - I said freight charges. These
cartons are too long for UPS, or Fed Ex (over 10'), so they either
have to be picked up at my location (Harlingen, Texas), or shipped
via common carrier. To give you an idea of the approximate cost, from
Booneville, MO (factory) to my location here in South Texas, the
freight was approximately $300.00. I will consider offers, and/or
trades.
Please email me if you would like a picture (not the actual tower,
but a copy of their brochure pictures), or check it out at Glen
Martin Engineering web site at www.glenmartin.com.
73,
Brian - W5YE
