I bought this 1950=E2=80=99s phasing-type SSB transmitter off of eBay in a f=
light of=20
fancy, but I=E2=80=99ve come to realize that I=E2=80=99ll never find the tim=
e and ambition to=20
restore this one.=20

The Central Electronics 20A was an all-band higher power version of the=20
original 10A phasing type sideband rig. It is rumored that Art Collins used=20=
the=20
Central Electronics transmitters before Collins came out with the Gold Dust=20=
Twins=20
and the S-line.=20

A properly adjusted phasing-type SSB rig can produce spectacular audio=20
quality. The 20A has a unique =E2=80=98magic eye-tube=E2=80=99 RF indicator.=
 This setup has the=20
matching VFO, which is important as the frequency mixing scheme was unusual=20=
and=20
unique to the 20A.

This is sold in unrestored, unknown operating condition. To the best of my=20
knowledge all the pieces are there, including various plug-in coils for=20
different bands. As I have never powered it up or started the restoration, w=
hat you=20
see is what you get, and the buyer must be prepared to do the cleaning and=20
restoration work. Unit is dirty and dusty but not rusted or corroded. Paint=20=
is fair=20
with some chipping; silkscreening is in good condition. The case of the VFO=20
has been brush repainted black.

I=E2=80=99m asking $150 for the combination VFO and Exciter. Buyer to pay=20
professional packing and shipping costs. Paypal accepted (funded from bank a=
ccount ONLY,=20
no credit cards).
