Paul Harvey needs to put some on his dentures and prove that he believes what he
claims! Nice guy, huge ego, great announcer/commentator and good radio
personality. But sometimes ya gotta wonder about his over zeal for somethings he
is promoting, especially since he is paid big dollars to do it. I had a
discussion with him in 1970 and got to see the real Paul Harvey, quite a
difference! But that is often the case in the entertainment business, as what he
does is more entertainment oriented than it is newscastor or commentator. But
the way people use duct tape ... Ha Ha.

Hi.
I rewound that last turn on the tank coil and the Ranger now tunes up as it
should with no apparent parasitics in standby. Funny how these things work
properly when configured how the manufacture intended them to be 8^) I used
a length of wire from the center conductor of some RG8X cable as it was very
close to the original. Just a little bit larger gauge. Tinned it good,
repaired the coil and used dabs of JB weld to insure that it remained in the
grooves properly. On 10M even the AUX load control now sits at 7 as the
manual says it should, not like it was before. It sure tuned up nice and
easy.
Hey, according to Paul Harvey, "if JB Weld can't fix it, it's not fixable'.
I even fixed my broken 6146 tube with it (really)! When I pulled the plate
connector off, the tube cap came with it. I cleaned out the old glue and
solder, Cleaned the old glue off the tube, tinned the wire where it came out
of the tube and then put some JB around the glass nipple of the tube and the
envelope under where the cap sits. Installed the cap and soldered it in
place. The heat of soldering smoothed the JB weld that showed and really
set it up quick. Works like is should!
