Hi Paul,

It's nice to see the pictures.  I think the limiter does 
look like a factory job.  Output limiters were common on RCA 
sets, acting as AVC for CW operation.  Limiters appeared in 
the RAB, RAX, RAL, and the AR-60's apparent brother the 
AR-67.  So it doesn't surprise me that they added one to 
this set.  That corner of the chassis was vacant, just 
waiting for an addon.

The '67 is in a similar cabinet and covers 75-1500 KHz with 
a 65 KHz IF.  Front panel is markedly different: different 
dial, no bandspread control.

I can't find any documents on the AR-60 beside the QST ad 
and an article in Radio magazine.
