I have a 160m mobile transmitter built by W9TAL in 1966.
He was an engineer for Hallicrafters and used it in the Chicago area mobile.
Those days, it was the commuters 2meter equivalent pass the time rig.
It is beautifully designed to fit under the dash with a VFO 6AH6/6L6GC
transmitter, push pull 6V6 plate modulator and 12 vdc solid state inverter
all built on one chassis. There is a separate 160m tunable receive converter
that feeds the car radio ant.
Click on the urls to see a poor picture of it.

Would consider swapping for other ham stuff. Ask for list.

Terry and others, you can see a real good 160m mobile transmitter in the
October, 1959 issue of QST, beginning on page 26. A 6AQ5 capacitively
coupled to a 6AQ5 in the final, modulated by another 6AQ5.The 6AQ5 modulator
uses a T-17 surplus high-level carbon mike fed into the grid( no audio
preamp). This little deal runs 10 watts input. The article says that the
groundwave coverage is 4 to 6 dB better for 160 than on 75.
