I think the only part that would fall into the 'objectionable' category
would be listing of epay items. Mainly because if it's allowed to go
unchecked (despite the fact that most would not) some would abuse it for
their own purposes and clutter these lists with their sales. That
combined with the fact that epay makes billions and gives nothing to the
owner of QTH.net for the free advertising and inflated sales such ads
would bring. Makes sense to me.
As far as the topic, I think it's great. Related to boatanchors and
certainly the kind of thing that makes those of us north of the snowline
want to get out to some hamfests! Best story I heard was maybe 8-10
years back of a fellow somewhere in...Ohio or points west? Someone else
may recall this, I think the guy was a pilot and ham...he purchased a
house and left behind in the basement was a Collins KW-1. Talk about a
signing bonus! Then there was the similar but opposite(?) extreme last
year. A friend of mine was given an absolutely beautiful T-368 in
excellent condition by a fellow AMer who had it stored at his elderly
mother's house and didn't want to move it. Mom was selling the house so
the transmitter had to find a home or get scrapped. We picked it up the
day it was scheduled to be scrapped. It now resides about 1/2 hour from
me at my friend's place. Was quite a project and I wouldn't have missed
it for the world. There are a LOT of these items still waiting to be
found, saved, enjoyed. Have truck; will travel!
