Hi Chuck --
Initially I set the start date at Jan 1, 2001. The idea was
for it to be achived in the 21st Century using mid (or earlier)
20th Century radios.
After the announcement in ER, we found out that ER already offered a
WAS-AM in the past and in fact had issued #1 already!! That WAS-AM
program was never cancled, it just kinda went away and was forgotten.
Even so, people were still working on it, Ray and I felt
it would be best to just continue with the old one, but really
promote it.
As for getting off on the same start, I want the WAS-AM award to be
obtained as a by-product of AM activity, and not be competitive in the
contest sense.
