Cliff & the gang -

The BA-42 is a "C" cell. The BA-1312 is an odd one, about the size of
a "AA" cell but 4.5V. I recently bought BA-1312 replacements from:
http://www.thebatterybarn.com/about.html
Newly made BA-1312s are readily available since they are used as
memory backup in certain Mac computers, but they are sold under a
different number lately.

Also, for copies of the ME-297/U manual and for alignment &
calibration info, see Nolan Lee's website at:
http://www.acadiacom.net/nlee/me-297.html

good luck
