[Boatanchors] HQ-180 Question

Finishing up my HQ-180.   Ready to do the alignment, and was playing around
with the radio and have a question.

Under the "AM Recption" section, the manual says to put the bandspread at
100.    Naturally, I started at 0, and progressed upwards.    However,  I
can't go past 80 or so!!   I have to go back to 0, then "backwards" past 0
to 100.

With the cap plates fully meshed, the line in the window is above the
alignment mark on the white disk at the low end of the scale, which seems
correct.

It this supposed to be the way the 180 works?

BTW, the radio plays great (as is!!).
