Ronnie, We have alot of opinions so pick and choose are required.
That Heath station looks great. It is a Novice station and such the =
HR-10 receiver is adequate for CW contacts but it is not wonderful like =
the more advanced receiver. It will be capable of alot of great cw =
contacts. I don't know if you should expect much performance up on 10 =
meters with that radio. I've listened to 20/40/80 with mine and its ok. =
Those typically go for $75 - $125 also depending on condition. The =
DX-60 transmitter is a Novice transmittter, 60 watts input I think, so =
probably 35 - 40 watts output. Not alot of power on 40 meters but it =
will be capable of alot of great cw contacts. Those typically go for =
$75 - $125 depending on condition. Thank goodness the HG-10 vfo is =
there so you don't have to mess with crystals. The HG-10 vfo will work =
great with that setup and allow you to do cw all over the bands. The =
HG-10 is a sought after vfo, seems to go for $60 - $75 bucks these days. =
Take a look at EBAY completed items for Heathkit and you can see what =
the individual pieces are selling for.
You need the Dow Key relay, thats a $25 - $40 purchase. The key is nice. =
The rest of the accessories don't excite me. =20
The DX-60 has amplitude modulation also. There are alot of guys running =
DX-60 AM these days on 75 meters, some on 40 and 20 meters. =20
It would be a fun beginnig station for you to use. So there's my =
opinion for what its worth. Good luck and welcome aboard. 73
