The OFFICIAL way to clean up plugs on switchboards was to use a product
called "Doe's Plug Polish" which came in a small tin, not unlike shoe
polish. It was an abrasive substance and was pink in color. I guess this job
was reserved for the night operators. I would NOT recommend this stuff for
the Drake Chassis, however. I think they used the same process as Ameco.
Looked nice in its day, but does not hold up well 30 years later. I think
its copper on steel.--Mike, WV2ZOW
