Hi Duane & Gang,

My answer to your poll:

1. The Hammarlund HQ-129-X....With a good SSB converter, it is hard to
beat! Suggest the
the TMC GSB-1 which is the "Ham" equivalent to the SSB converter they
built for the R-390
receivers except instead of a 3.1 filter, the GSB-1 uses a 2.5 filter
and has a fantastic calibrated
dial arrangement....The receiver has a slow drift problem....

2. Hands down, the Hallicraters SX-16....With push-pull 6V6's output to a
p-p plate to a 5000 ohm,
thats correct, a 5000 ohm to line transformer then a 5000 ohm line to
Voice Coil transformer
mounted in the separate speaker enclosure....The volume level could be
turned way up without
distortion of the audio....No good for SSB. No stability....Good for AM
only....

4. The Collins 75S3C for stable, accurate tuning and good audio....

10. Don't know - I am not familiar with the mass of receivers having been
marketed back then....

Ken....N5CM....NNN0FKQ....
