> Several months ago the Maritime Radio Historical Society was fortunate
enough to rescue two 15kW Press Wireless PW-15 1940s vintage transmitters
from the Globe Wireless transmitting site of KFS south of San Francisco.
These historic transmitters were on the air for the Press Wireless point to
point service in Belmont, CA, then at the KFS site when Globe acquired Press
Wireless. We believe one of the transmitters was in service at KFS on the
last day of American commercial Morse on July 12, 1999.
>
> One of the transmitters has just been returned to service and will be on
the air for Straight Key Night transmitting press and weather. We would
particularly appreciate reception reports on this transmitter.
>
> Frequency: 12695.5kc
> Power: 7kW
> Call: KFS
>
> As a reminder KPH will also be on the air with press and weather on 426kc
(primary) and 500kc (calling).
>
> K6KPH will be on the air on 3545kc, 7060kc, 14050kc and possibly 21050kc
if conditions warrant.
