Greetings,

I have here a home brew crystal short-wave receiver. You can not get much more
vintage than that!

It has two bands, 7.6-10.5 and 9.0-15.5 Mhz. Selectable with a slide switch.

It tunes with a variable capacitor and I even have a rf stage in front of the
coil.

Here is my problem. I am getting a huge signal from a local BCB station on 1330
Khz Fox Sports Network. No other local stations of equal, or greater power, are
heard.

The only way I can get rid of it is to disconnect the antenna. Then if I use my
finger for an antenna and hold the antenna lead in my hand, but not touching it
to the antenna post, no BCB is present and the SW is heard. However, the signal
is also greatly reduced.

I tried using a piece of insulated wire and wrapping it around the antenna wire
as an inductance coupling and connecting the other end to the antenna post. This
worked, again no BCB, but still a diminished signal. Maybe if I use more turns
of wire it will improve.

The question: Any suggestions as to how to reduce or eliminate the local BCB
station?

There ar chokes on the antenna and ground posts, by the way.

Last night, well actually this morning, I did hear Belgium Calling RST/444 and
WYFR in FL RST/444 in Spanish. Incredible!
