I suggest starting off with revamping-modifying the HP-23 power supply. Here is a website that I think you'll find interesting. In essense, "can" the cans (don't go back to getting those old Mallory style electrolytics). Upgrade with what this man has here for modding the HP-23. Simply put, it will make your "hop two three" new again for years to come. FWIW. Cal N6KYR (who built my own HW-101 and HP-23 oh so many years ago). http://www.theheathkitshop.com/hp23r.html

Subject: [Boatanchors] RE-CAP ASSISTANCE REQUESTED

Hi to everyone! I want to re-cap my old heathkit gear
i.e. HW-101, DX-60b, HP-23 and HP-23c. Should keep
me busy for a few months...

Info requested: Source of caps, do I have to stick
with electrolytic? As long as the cap's voltage is
higher than spec it's OK right?

I hope to re-use old cans... Are those cardboard cans?

Tnx vy much! (in advance)
