All I could find in the 5100 manual is to set the PA bias voltage to 65-70
volts minus (depending on line V).
That's in the service notes. Bias is supplied by a multitap wirewound resistor.
Was just going over my 5100B, but it has pots to set PA and mod bias. In
the 'B' (might be different now!)
you setup for CW operation, remove the excitation lead from the multiplier
... and adjust a pot to get a
resting AMP current of 55 ma with EXC control turned one third clockwise.
Another pot is adjusted for a resting MOD current of 75ma. "When the high
voltage power supply
is normally loaded by the final amplifier, the resting "MOD" current will
be a normal 55ma.
So both the 6146 pairs in the B model want a resting bias current of 55ma.
