[Boatanchors] VT 27 = Type 30 = ?

Thanks for all the responses to my question. To go a bit further, it was
prompted by looking at the WW II Japanese TM Handy Wireless set.
A gentleman in California has one of these sets and has it sort of
working. He used Type 40 tubes. My set had Type VT 27 tubes in it.

The receiver is a regenerative detector and audio amplifier and in the
transmit mode, is a Hartley Oscillator with both tubes in parallel.

Is a Type 30 tube the same as a Type 40 as far as use is concerned? What
is the basic difference?
