Subject: [Boatanchors] Resistors
I bought some 50watt resistors to cure a power supply problem
and......
Well what the problem is i think is that the resistors altho power
type
have a center hole of less than 5/16 inch or 8 mm i guess it works
out
to be. When i mounted thes in the supply (3100V no load) they kinda
smoked.....
I had insulated the mounting bolt but evidently not correctly.
Melted
that stuff right onto the rod. Lesson learned.
What i'm wondering is if power resistors in the 80K 50W region can be
found with a larger opening. Original one had about a half inch hole
thru the middle and was mounted on a couple of ceramic pieces to keep
it
in place and do the insulating thing as well.
Either find something larger in physical size or come up with a way
to
insulate the smaller diameter units. I thought about using ceramic
beads but they wouldn't have a center hole large enough to handle the
support thru bolt. Any other suggestions? Wanna get the piece of
gear
in operation.
