My favorite iron of all time is a Hexacon 25 watt (Model 26S) one from aout
30 years ago (new ones have plastic handle instead of cork). Better than
weller, wen etc. That is, until the tip wore out. Replacements were like $30
for a pack of 5. It was a pointed chisel, and was great. I've even
successfully put on PL-259's with it. I did buy one of those cheap irons,
and they do work great given the price. I'm sure the tips do not last long,
but at the price, who cares. Mine came with what seemed (by the way it
melted)like lead free rosin core solder.
