With one of my receivers i notice a real warbling and instability when
tuning through the spectrum. It appears to the feel anyway that the
panel feedthru which also has some small bearings on the back side has
grease that is not acting like grease anymore. It will be more than a
major disassembly to take the front panel off in order to clean this
up. Is there something that i can spray on this (with very limited
access) to loosen this mixture? Something like 3 in 1 or some sort of
cleaner?
In case you must know, its on a TMC tuner TN-5012A/FRR-502 covering the
8-16 mc range. These things have a 1 for 10 tuning rate, 1 mm of turn
moves it 10 kc!!!!! ALmost as bad as some of the early radios. Even
the BC-312 is better than this. But its neat and i'd like to get it
working a little better anyway.
Suggestions?
