This has brought back a memory from the 1960s.  The
station in my (small) hometown, which went on the air in
1960, and operating on 1420 kHz, had provisions for moving
the Gates BC-1T to 1240 kHz, with a two crystal oscillator
unit, and switch.  The PA had to be retuned for the new
frequency, and since the antenna matching network was tuned
for 1420, the antenna system was not very effective, but did
work.
