When i went into the AIr Force back in 59 we weren't allowed radios in
the barracks, at least while in basic training down at Lackland near San
Antonio. Fortunately as i recall the BX/PX stocked crystal radios that
could receive a local station or two.  Yep, XERF and WOAI i think it was
that i could receive.  Nothing else cause of the power and inadequate
selectivity of the unit.  At least i wasn't totally isolated from the
world!
