All vintage gear of all flavors is always welcome -
Please drift into the old Ham Shack and warm up those Hallicrafters for the
Saturday September 28th 40 meter Net. Just don't try to warm them up by setting
that hot cup of coffee on top! Cream and sugar do very strange things to the
circuits, and the results are definitely not good to the last drop!
The pre-Net commences at 12:30 PM EDT, (1630 UTC). The Net proper at 1:00 PM
EDT, (1700 UTC). The frequency will be 7.280 Mhz lsb +/- for key clicks, mike
splatter and the sound of Frogzilla's giant Bug Barbecue Zapper toasting
mosquitoes like a popcorn machine in a movie theater lobby with the on switch
stuck! Popcorn pouring out like molten lava boiling out over the top of an
active volcano, except for the added sodium chloride and butter instead of
scorched trees and broiled forest ranger Jeeps. Well, actually nowadays, that is
salt substitute and flavor free vegetable oil with a few drops of something a
Chemist concocted to smell and look like real butter. This bug zapper runs on a
220 vac line and develops something like 35,000 volts. June bugs sound like a
firecracker, dragonflies sizzle like bacon in a hot cast iron skillet and
butterflies go up in a puff of acrid smoke like cheap panty hose a hot cinder
falls on! The little frogs wait below with a large tub catching the barbecued
insects and adding some garlic salt, hot sauce made from tomato worms and some
other things that tend to ruin my appetite.
Provided the propagation permits the passage of radio waves farther than
somebody trying to fling a football with a ruptured bladder, I hope to hear many
of you tomorrow. Help keep America clean, fire up those transmitters and
irradiate some leaves! They can't fall on your yard if you vaporize them first!
