All vintage gear of all flavors is always welcome -
Since I assumed the duties of NCS for the Hallicrafters group that later came to
be known as HCI: Hallicrafters Collectors International, in March 1999, the
Sunday 20 meter Net has had all fifty states check in, plus thirty-eight other
countries. We are approaching the 5000 check in mark and will hit it in late
September or early October. This is for just the Sunday 20 meter Net, the check
ins for Saturday and Wednesday are not included.
The check in who is number 5000 will receive a special vintage gear gift that
will be shipped to them post paid. The lucky person will be announced here on
the Hallicrafters mail list, as well as on the air and on the HCI web site.
So warm up those vintage Hallicrafters, and other flavors of boat anchors, and
drift on in. We are within 150 of the magic number -
The pre-Net will commence at 12:45 PM EDT, (1645 UTC). The Net proper begins at
1:15 PM EDT, (1715 UTC). I will be on the air tuning up the equipment and
inspiring the Gerbils with miniature cattle prods to run fast enough to keep the
generator pumping out the necessary current to operate the station at 12:30 PM
EDT, (1630 UTC).
When the 5000 check in number is reached, I am going to publish the complete
list of all individual check ins since March 1999, but not any repeats. I will
also list the countries that have been logged.
I am looking forward to hearing a whole herd of you tomorrow, so mosey on over
to the Halli corral and get branded with your check in number. Just be careful!
With a totally blind man wielding a red hot branding iron be sure it is the log
book that gets branded, not your left buttock! Besides making it very
uncomfortable to sit normal for a week, you may have to explain to your XYL why
the Halli Logo is burned into your butt. Sometimes trying to convince them you
got it from accidentally sitting on hot radio equipment and not from some hooker
named Halli, can be very difficult!
Thanks for your support over the years and I am looking forward to talking with
many of you tomorrow.
