Hi David -

Having gone through a *very* similar situation in the early 90s, I wish you
luck. When I lost my job then, I sold my nice RE S-Line and a nice WE KWM-2A(my
very first Collins rig!) in order to do the same thing as you, put some money
away for later. Of course, prices were much lower then (think I got around $1250
between the two) and I was a few years yet from becoming a homeowner, but it
still stung something awful. Sold a *lot* of nice gear then, but I always looked
at the radios as (mostly) expendable toys that could be replaced later. Basic
survival comes first, afterall.

A few years back I was able to replace the KWM-2A with a late model in nice
shape and the matching 30L-1 all for around $600, so that took a little of the
sting away. I doubt I'll be able to afford another S-Line for a while, though.

It may seem tough right now, but you'll get through it. Took me a while to
recover the ground I lost, but I've since gone forward much further in career
and the rest, so keep the chin up! This stuff is all cyclic, the trick is the do
as you're doing now and survive the plunge to later ride the crest of the wave
again. BA prices are going through the same correction as the economy, so
perhaps you'll get some nice deals later as a result of all this.

Good luck -
