A lot of the tubes from the early to mid 1920s have
the pins soldered with acid core solder.  If you run
into some tubes that seem to have open filaments /
heaters, try resoldering the pins using plenty of new
solder to "flush" out the old.  I have brought back
many a tube that was supposedly dead.
