Hi Joe,

I have an SR-150 also. Neat little rig. My tubes are original. I really
can't see changing finals for any reason other than sweep tubes of most types
are getting a bit difficult but not impossible to find. If I were going to
change finals, I would go to a 6146 or similar beam power tube that would fit
and work without having to make major circuit and chassis mods. I would
leave it alone as long as it is working the way it should and use your energy
to find a couple of extra sets of finals.

Hints: Don't run the rig flat out. the last 15 or 20 watts as not goung to
make a bit of difference on the other end, and will shorten the life of the
finals.

Keep tuneup periods as short as possible and give the tubes time to cool down
during tuning periods. If you are using a tuner, pre tune it with an MFJ 259
or similar generator which will make the tunup periods shorter.

Think about a muffin fan for the top of the cabinet, blowing out. You can
double face tape it, ise existing vent holes to mount it without having to
drill new ones, or simply but some short rubber pads on it and set it where
you want it.

John,
