All vintage gear, and operators, are always welcome -
Remember tonight is the night for the HCI 20 meter Global Glow roundtable. The
date? Wednesday May 8Th. The Time? The pre-Net will be at 7:30 PM EDT, (2330
UTC). The Global Glow lights them up at 8:00 PM EDT, (0000 UTC). I will be on
the air beating defiant electrons into passive propagation submission at 7:00 PM
EDT, (2300 UTC).
The frequency will be 14.315 Mhz usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and the
sound of happy frogs, or is it horny toads?, singing their stupid little hearts
out in the pursuit of love. You know the old bromide, Spring is when a man's
fancy turns from gold, boat anchors, and raw sex to love. Or something like
that. The back up frequencies will be 14.322 or 14.328 Mhz usb.
I hope to hear some of you above this infernal chorus of frogs whailing out
"Frog Went A Courting" (The Brothers Four) and "I'm In Love With A Big Blue
Phrog" (Peter, Paul & Mary)! The din is worse than a whole string of black
beauties going off like popcorn in a skillet over a roaring camp fire. So boost
that mike gain, throw a few extra coals on the old electron toaster and join us
for some vintage fun, facts and fantastic fellowship.
Question: What receivers were used by station WAR in Maryland during WW2 to
monitor world military traffic? How many acreas did this site occupy?
