Greetings. =20
I'm rebuilding a bona fide BOATANCHOR, my National RBL-6, an old Navy =
VLF receiver I recently acquired. 7 tubes and weighs 75 lbs!
The thing looks BRAND NEW inside. I fired it up and it actually worked =
first time. Right on frequency too with the local 620kHz AM outlet =
right on the spot on the dial!
Very low volume though. All tubes checked out well except the 5Y3GT, =
which was weak on my EICO 625 tube tester. It was putting out 163 volts =
vice 192 on the B+.
The tube and caps are on the way from AES. I'm going to replace all the =
paper caps, then I'll replace the the mica's and ceramics only by =
exception. =20
It calls for a 600 ohm speaker. Anyone know where to get an 800 ohm =
speaker or headphones, or how to make a network to use an 8-ohm speaker =
instead? =20
