If it's any help -- you should NOT use the standby with the R-390A --
that's what they all tell me. Puts undue stress on the tubes.

Sort of like the joke that goes:  Patient: "Doctor, it hurts when I do
this."  Doctor:  "Well stop doing that.  That'll be $75."

Seriously though, if the radio works well off standby, then just don't do
standby.
