[Boatanchors] HP 8640A new owner

I need a little help with a (new for me) sig gen. Problem is, I don't
know how to use the calibration & metering facility for RF output & FM
deviation.

It seems pretty straightforward, but the banded marks on the output
attenuator & the auto-switching meter ranges are a bit confusing. Just
need a few lines from an experienced user, & I should be OK.

Some time ago, I believe someone on this list posted a web address for
the US Army Electronic Publication database, which I used sucessfully to

obtain obsolete HP user manuals. I have lost the address and wonder if
anyone could forward it as I recall there was a complete 8640 manual on
the list.
