Hmm, static electricity does not dissipate?

So why some of the "old" stuff  receivers have a neon bulb connected to the
antenna terminal? 
My ARC 5 does! 

How about doing this - next time there is a storm around your QTH, connect a
neon bulb to your antenna " hot lead" and ground the other end.
Turn of the lights and watch the fireworks!

I have seen this on about 43 meters long Windom in the middle of the city,
surrounded by lightning rods on every roof top!
Got me convinced!
