Just acquired cute RT-159B "rescue transceiver" and would like to make it
play. It is missing oscillator and multiplier tubes - subminiature USAF
6050 or CK 5676. The schematic inside does not specify the tubes, I got this
info from schematic for 159 A model. I would like to retune it to 2 meter
ham band - any comments on that? I have found the schematic on the net but
that is about all. I have not looked for manual, not yet. The battery pack
is very rusty but intact. It may disintegrate if I attempt to get rid of the
outside rust. I would like to "open" it and get rid of the innards, any
comments on that? If anybody done that and thinks that it is the innards
which are holing the battery pack together and it may be rustier inside, let
me know, please.

Since this is my first restoration project I am looking for any information
from anybody who worked on this transceiver or similar. Would it be
blasphemy if I replace the oscillator hollow state chain with solid state?
Of course if these tubes are available for reasonable price, I would prefer
to replace them.

Thanks in advance for any comments. 73 Vaclav AA7EJ
PS. It seems that serial numbers or tag add "value" , but there is no such
thing on this fat and short IC-2AT Hi Hi
