Hello from Vienna !
Finally I was lucky and got 2 toothed belts for the frequency display for my
Rhode & Schwarz (R&S) EK 56/4 as spare ones. They are extremly rare (you can
look all over Europe and will hardly find one) and you can repair
everything on the receiver, but if such a belt is damaged, and you get no
replacement for it, you can not operate the receiver and only look at it or
throw it away.
My question is (I hope I never need to replace the 2 belts in the receiver -
the built in are new): I have to store this plastic belts for a longer time.
I don't know from what material they are made, I think its some kind of
nylon. Can I use some silicone oil to preserve them (so they don't dry out)
or is ther some other material better to use ? As this belts are toothed
belts, it will not bring me some problems if I have to use them because they
are slippery.
Perhaps someone of you can give me a short advice ?
TIA
Greetings de Kurt.
