All vintage gear of all flavors is always welcome -
The HCI Saturday June 22nd 40 meter Net will be held at its regular time for
those not involved in Field Day activities. However, I will be on earlier than
usual tomorrow - pre-Net at noon (1600 UTC). The Net is officially at 1:00 PM
EDT, (1700 UTC).
I am being forced to get on earlier because of a small group of east coast rag
chewers who have decided that 7.280 Mhz lsb is where they want to shred rags and
spit polish their egos. They know the Hallicrafters Net is scheduled there, but
are amused because if they are their first, they can force us to move.
Unfortunately this is correct. It is not good manners, proper radio ethics or
even self-respecting, but it is legal.
On the air discussions with them about the Net starting in thirty minutes and
would they please be kind enough to QSY at that time, has accomplished nothing.
They will give us the frequency, as soon as they are done with it. Which is
always forty-five minutes to ninety minutes after the scheduled starting time of
the Net. Once they did move, from 7.280 to 7.281 Mhz lsb. A real help!
They have been sent e-mail explaining the situation. None has ever been
answered.
As much as I dislike having to do things this way, I guess the only recourse is
to be there first. Hence, I will be on the air at 12:00 PM EDT, (1600 UTC)
tomorrow. If some of you can come early to keep me company, it would be
appreciated.
